It’s National Siblings Day today and I do believe my brother and sister are two of the few people who know me best.
My brother, Chad, is rebellious and has the sweetest soul on earth. He’d give his last dime away to someone who needed it.
My sister, equally as sweet but in her own way, is the social butterfly of our family. She keeps in touch with childhood friends and distant cousins, yet she’s a Scorpio and can sting you with her sarcasm and wry observations. In fact, as I grew older and learned to cope with her criticisms a little more, I’d jokingly tell her, “Melissa, you have your tail out again.”
As for me, I think Chad and Melissa would describe me as the watcher and the worrier and the financially responsible one – maybe veering to the point of being miserly.
But that’s okay. We love each other just the same.
P.S. Many thanks to simpleinsomnia for sharing her wonderful found photos, like the delightful one above, under “some rights reserved” licensure.

Love this! I’m thinking back about how much fun we had playing with the kids in the neighborhood. I just visited “home” a few weeks ago. I visited with my mom and brothers and someone about my age who lived down the street from us growing up. We reminisced a bit about some good and some bad things that went on. It was good to talk to her and hear her perspective.
I always enjoy your posts, but I don’t always let you know. I appreciate what I see on this blog. Thank you.

Love this. I posted a 1958 Easter photo on my FB timeline today of me (just shy of age 1, the baby) and my 8 older siblings. They would likely describe me as the smart brat who has a sharp tongue. I’m also a financially responsible one, yet hope they think of me as an advocate for any of them at any time and for most any reasonable reason.
