I’ve always known this to be true, but I didn’t really realize how true it was until we rescued Molly and helped to rescue Scraps. The level of devotion from a dog who knows you have saved it from being put down, who knows you have given it a home when no one else would . . . and believe me, I think they do know . . . well, it is truly beyond compare.
P.S. Many thanks to Jan for sharing his image in Creative Commons.

Oh gosh, this almost makes me cry. The photo and caption are perfect.

Glad it hit a soft spot, Rita. Never a bad thing.

My dog is my constant companion, I even make plans around him – I loved the photo and caption.

Ours too. We rarely go anywhere for an extended period of time without them. Our weekends often involve them as well — we like taking them for walks or to the dog park because they so thoroughly enjoy it.

They do know! One of mine is a rescue, and the love and adoration she gives is just beyond compare!
Kim says
I really do think that. Molly is just an incredibly loving ball of fur, and she minds so well like she just LIVES to please. Kacy, on the other hand, is much more like a cat — very independent and stubborn.

As staff to 7 cats, we also believe this statement to be true. {Shhh…Don’t tell the cats.}

Animals can often teach us great lessons about love and long suffering! I lost my yellow labrador and did not think I would be that sad
Kim says
Indeed they can. I am so sorry for your loss. I’m sure your pain was equal to the love you received.
