I laughed out loud when I read these three sentences in Todd Johnson’s book. Then I saw Denise’s image, and it all came together.
I used to get perms in high school. I was a huge fan of Stevie Nicks and I wanted to look just like her. Unfortunately, the hairdressers always fried my hair! It did indeed look like a burnt offering. (My hair is straight and fine, and it’s just not meant to withstand harsh chemicals.)
How about you? Did you have any nightmarish memories involving beauty salons?
P.S. Thank you, Denise, for allowing me to modify and share your image!

Not me I had natural curly hair.
However, I have a question has anyone ever heard the saying “Higher the hair closer to God?” before?

OH my word yes! I wanted a perm so I could have loose curls – my hair is heavy and thick and goes limp in a minute if I try to curl it. So I got a perm…it was slow in taking so the hairdresser left it in longer. Needless to say, I had super tight frizzy curls not the loose waves of my imagination. Three months later it was even frizzier but it never relaxed. Glad I’ve learn to love my hair the way God made it!

This is hilarious! I cracked up when I read this and looked at the picture. I had a perm once, it was a really, really bad idea. I looked like a woodpecker that had been electrocuted. Not a good look for me.

Is that a good look for anyone (other than a baby woodpecker)? LOL!!!!! Glad I made you laugh … and vice versa.
