Have you ever been to the Marburger Farm Antique Show?
If not, I highly recommend it. It’s my favorite antique show, and this is testimony from a gal who’s been to quite a few shows over the years. The show happens twice a year — in the Spring and Fall — just outside of Round Top, Texas on Highway 237. (Directions are conveniently provided here.)
This year’s Fall show begins on September 30th and concludes on October 4th.
Yes, there is an entrance fee, but it’s well worth the price of admission. I wouldn’t doubt it a bit if it takes you the entire week to thoroughly shop their 10 large tents and 12 historic buildings.
If you do decide to go, please do check out my sister, Melissa’s booth in Tent A. (Space AC-1 to be exact.) My mother and aunt bring their wares to sell and set up with her. The above photo was taken by my niece during the last Spring show. Pretty huh.
My sister made the paper flowers for her daughter’s wedding that happened later that year. She’s so talented.
On another note, the quote is one I’ve saved for years. If you’re wondering who Emma Lee Turney is, she is the person who started the Round Top we know and love today. You can read more about her here. If you’re wanting more information about Round Top, from her perspective, she wrote a book that you might like.
Oh, and one last “what a small world!” thing — my mom would like it if I told you this — Texas Monthly magazine wrote a good article about the whole Round Top experience that was published in April 2013. If you look at it, you’ll see a photo of a cowboy, standing a little bewildered while women rushed by him on the opening day of the show. That’s my stepfather.

Kim, what an insightful post! No, I have never been to Marburger and YES it is definitely on my bucket list. Your quote at the lead photo (beautiful and yes to those paper flowers!) had me, before you mentioned her, but I looked at the name and said, “I wonder who Emma Lee Turney is?” What a woman! I looked at all your links and to think she started this thing with just 22 dealers. That’s about the size of this little show my sisters & I will be doing this week. Who knows where one’s road leads? Happy Fall!
