Are you as fascinated with old abandoned houses as I am?
Hope so because I’m going to start sharing more photos of old abandoned places I see all the time around here.
This is one of my favorites.
Isn’t she pretty?
I love her farmhouse style with it’s wide front porch and her many pretty and plain corbels.
I like ‘plain and pretty’ don’t you?
She’s located just about a mile down the road from our home.
As long as we’ve lived in the area, no one has ever lived in this old place. Someone obviously takes care of her though.
The house has a relatively new roof and overall the house is in very good condition, at least from what I can tell by looking at the exterior.
Yeah, it’s got some issues that need to be fixed, but they’re not significant.
Also, the lawn around the house is trimmed about twice a year.
I think I may know who owns this old beauty.
If I am right and if/when I ever get to see the inside of this old farmhouse, I’ll share more pictures.

Wow I love it! Makes me sad. There should be kids running through there or people sipping coffee on the porch.

Bread in the oven, and a house full of family. Oh, the stories this old girl could tell.
Kim says
Indeed!
Kim says
It makes me a little sad, too, but I’m happy to know that someone still loves her enough to take care of her.

Hi Kim,
My curiosity overflows when I see an old abandoned house. I love the simple look to this old farmhouse. The overhang is just wide enough and the front porch says welcome home to me. Hope you get to see the inside someday.
Have a Great Day,
Suzanne

I know! This particular home is architectural perfection in my opinion. I could never imagine living ever again in a home without a front porch.

Oh if only those walls could talk…we’d learn so much about its history 😉
Kim says
Oh, wouldn’t it be neat to hear some old timey conversations!
Cecilia says
She’s beautiful…I hope you get to see the inside. It makes me sad to see old houses empty.
Kim says
Oh, I certainly didn’t want to make you feel sad. I’m just glad someone loves her enough to keep her in relatively good condition.

I think of you guys every time I pass an old abandoned house now…….can’t wait to see more of your finds….
Kim says
Thanks, Jenny!
Cindy says
Lovely…thank you Kim. It’s 9 below zero with a wind chill of 19 below zero this morning…I needed something to make me smile.
Kim says
Brrrr! So glad that I could do that for you, Cindy!

It is beautiful to see the past on record which is history. That old house has plan, if the plan can be visited then the old house can become much useful as long that area will be developing again.

Kim,
I think you need to buy it and fix it up!
You could invite those of us who follow your blog and we could come out once a month for a slumber party!!
Kim says
If I was wealthy, I’d sure consider it! 🙂 Unfortunately, that’s not the case.

The first thing that comes to mind is “I would KILL for that roof and possibly that house” but I probably really wouldn’t kill for it. But I still really really really like it. Are you still in Texas? And by the way your kitchen is in my top 5 EVER kitchens. I’ve wanted a screen door pantry for as long as I can remember!
Kim says
I understand completely. I use that expression all the time, too. Yep, we’re still in Texas! Thanks so much for the HUGE compliment!!!!

Thanks for sharing this beautiful old home. I follow a site “Vanishing South Georgia Photographs by Brian Brown” that I think you would enjoy. He photographs old homeplaces, small towns, etc. in Georgia that are actually vanishing before our eyes. It is amazing what he finds and shares.

Love that! I googled it and found him immediately. I’ll definitely check out his site. I have a Pinterest board devoted to photos of abandoned places. I find them to be so fascinating!!!
