Today we started deconstructing the old house 14 miles from our home this morning.
We immediately started stripping the walls of drywall to reveal the shiplap boards underneath.
John is so talented at this. While he is able to remove huge pieces like this one, I can usually remove boards about a 10th this size … if I’m lucky.
Here’s a shot of the shiplap walls. Pretty, huh.
We also found dynamite sticks.
Just kidding.
While they may look like dynamite, they are actually old window weights, and we found at least two dozen of them. I hear that avid fishermen love to use them for fishing weights.
We also were thrilled to discover not one, but two — TWO! — lovely, old lead transom windows with wavy glass that were hidden behind plywood and dirty window blinds. They are both in pristine condition.
I’m not sure if we’ll keep them and incorporate them into a tiny house build project … or if we’ll sell them.
I’m sure I could be convinced to sell at least one of them, if not both.
